MOULTRIE — The Ministries of Hope House will be holding its September Hope for the Hungry from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the former Hope House location, 17 W. Central Ave.
The Moultrie Junior Woman’s Club and the Moultrie Federated Guild are partnering to prepare the meal.
The Colquitt County Clothing Bank, located at the same address, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. holding a “Brown Bag Saturday.”
The “Brown Bag Saturday” will allow people to fill up a bag with winter clothes for only $5. Executive Director Rebecca Strange said this is to help people who might not be able to get a referral for the clothing bank, but still need affordable fall and winter clothing. The clothing bank has some brand new clothes, with the tags still on them, as well as used clothing.
This month will feature a new addition to the feeding time, a free movie. “Facing the Giants” will be shown in another area of the building for anyone who wants to eat and then go have a seat and watch the film.
The Moultrie Junior Women’s Club and the Federated Guild are preparing and serving the meal in honor of World Hunger Month. Georgia has a population over 9 million and more than 2 million of those people live below the poverty line.
Volunteers from both organizations are assisting with the preparation of the meal and serving on Saturday. Stripling’s Meats is providing the barbecue that will be served at the feeding, and Sparkman’s Dairy will hand out free milk.
