MOULTRIE — Under the guidance of social studies teacher Michelle Wright, fourth grade students at Cox Elementary were assigned to write letters describing the qualities of a great leader to President Barack Obama. Recently, the students received a big surprise! Obama replied with a personally signed letter of encouragement and gratitude, plus photos of himself, his dog Bo, and the White House. A pre-planned drug search using multiple law enforcement agencies gave Colquitt County High School an “all clear” on Wednesday.
New GED test starts in January
The State of Georgia will launch a new GED program in January 2014 that has been developed by the national GED Testing Service (GEDTS) in Washington, D.C. Officials in Moultrie Technical College’s Adult Education and GED test preparation program say they are prepared for the changes in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth counties.

Regents honor ABAC renovation
For Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, the Historic Front Campus Project revitalized the “front door” of ABAC in a landmark fashion. For that monumental endeavor which culminated with a rededication ceremony on March 1, ABAC has received the Regents Award of Excellence from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
High school students can enroll at ABAC academy
The impact of high school students dually enrolled in classes at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will receive a significant boost with the establishment of the Baldwin Academy, a new program designed for top academic students.
FFA team places 4th in U.S.
Members of the Colquitt County FFA Chapter were one of 31 teams participating in the National FFA Marketing Plan Career Development Event (CDE). The event was held in conjunction with the 86th National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky.

Moultrians among ABAC music majors to perform next week
The music majors at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will present recitals on Dec. 2 and Dec. 4-5 at 4 p.m. each day in the Chapel of All Faiths. The performances are open to the public at no charge.
