50th Regiment scores Excellent at festival

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County High School 50th Regiment Band participated in the Blue and Gray Invitational Marching Festival in Fitzgerald Oct. 4.

The group performed their competition show, titled “Our Town,” and featured music that captures the spirit of life in Moultrie and Colquitt County. Selections include “Georgia on My Mind,” “I Was Born in a Small Town,” “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” “The Prayer,” and concludes with “Are You Ready for a Miracle?” featuring Colquitt County High School’s Homecoming Queen Ashley Patillo as vocalist. The group was critiqued by several judges, in four categories: Band, Drum Major, Color Guard and Percussion.

Receiving Superior ratings were drum major Logan Padilla, color guard and percussion.

The 50th Regiment Band was judged Excellent by two judges and Superior by one judge, rating the overall band score as Excellent.
