The Burnhams have 10th reunion at New Elm Baptist

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — On May 30, the family of the late Lewis Thomas Burnham and Nora Alice Stapleton Burnham marked their 10th reunion with a large gathering at the New Elm Baptist Church social hall.

A meet and greet was followed by remarks on the day’s activities. Betty Burnham gave the memorial, which included a remembrance of Louise Burnham Williams. The devotional delivered by Robert Lewis, focused on Nora Alice Burnham, the matriarch of the family. He praised her as a virtuous woman, selflessly devoted to her husband and family.

This year’s family spotlight was on Richard Dudley, better known as “Dud” Burnham, the fifth child and second son of Lewis Thomas and Nora Alice Burnham. Faye Brock remembered her uncle as a hard-working farmer who, though born in Dodge county, had lived all but a few years of his life in Colquitt county. She described him as a good-natured, humble, family man with an infectious laugh who was loved and missed by everyone that knew him.

Eva Mae Burnham, widow of Dud, was recognized as the oldest attending; Cora Belle Goines, daughter of Eddie and Karen Goines and great-granddaughter of Dud, as the youngest; and Rob, Cassandra, Skylar and Brock Woodruff of Macon as those that traveled the longest distance to attend.

After some music by Eddie and Karen Goines, the food was blessed, and dinner was served. Following the dinner, the auction was conducted by cousins Angie Bius and Pam Harbin. Assisting in the annual fundraiser was Brittany Croft, daughter of Angie.

Among those attending from out of town were Ken and Mary Flowe, Gena Burnham, Eddie Menten, Ricky Burnham, Vickie Burnham, Tony and Jana Burnham, John and Stephanie Jones and Ray Burnham all of Albany, Ga.; Rob, Cassandra, Skylar and Brock Woodruff of Macon, Ga.; Janice Phillips, Richard Bachelor, Tim, Pam, Jaime, Mary Grace and J.T. Harbin, Travis and Marie Gregory and Tim Burnham all of Norman Park; Robert and Deborah Lewis and Marie Burnham all of Leesburg, Ga.; Paula, Dale and Ryan Hodges of Putney, Ga.; Cindy, Jacob and Maygen Duckworth of Sylvester, Ga.; Scott, Donna, Austin and Brandon Garrett of Funston; Kenneth and Faye Brock of Doerun; and Brandi Harrod of Omega.

The local attendees included Irene Burnham, Tammy, Lauren and Tracy Jarvis, Kathy Burnham, Shannon, Brandy and Cody Hancock, Aline Gregory, June and Randall Burnham, Todd Burnham, Betty Burnham, Eddie, Karen and Cora Belle Goines, Jason and Angie Bius, Brittany Croft, Brandi Croft, Darrell and Faye Burnham, Jerry, Aaron and J.J.
