The Moultrie Lions Club earned second place recognition for the North Decatur Award. This award recognizes the local clubs within the state that have the best attendance at district and zone meeting throughout the year.

The Melvin Jones Award, the highest award in Lionism was presented to several local Lions Club members as well. Lions Ivy Davis and Lion James Greene were presented the Melvin Jones Award. Lion Wylene Goings was presented the Progressive Melvin Jones Award. A special Melvin Jones Award was given in memory and in honor of Duncan Sinclair who was a founding member of the Moultrie Lions Club in 1934. It was given by his son, District Governor and Past President Duncan Sinclair, and his wife, Jan Sinclair and their family.

The award for District Lion of the Year was presented to Lion Lou Lampman of the Moultrie Lions Club for her chairmanship of the District 18-C convention in Moultrie in March, her coordination of a raffle drawing in conjunction with the District Convention and the supportive role she played during the past year to Lions District 18-C and District Governor Sinclair.

Local Lion Jan Sinclair was presented the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation for her tireless efforts on behalf of Lionism. During the 2007-2008 year she chaired the Golden Chain, Peace Poster, Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic and Leo committees for both District 18-C and for the local Lions Club. She was the district director for the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind. She was associate director of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse, chaired the local awards committee and was club second vice president.

The State convention is an important event at the conclusion of a club year. The Moultrie Lions Club celebrates a successful 2007-2008 year and looks forward expectantly to another exciting year next year.
