Federated Guild is busy during September

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — September was a very busy month for Moultrie Federated Guild. The meeting, on Sept. 17, was well attended.

At the beginning of the meeting, Virginia Hart, public affairs chairman, recognized and presented special pins to ladies who were in elected leadership roles in the county or community. Recognized were Trudie Hill, Deborah Hampton and Jerri Meister, Colquitt County School Board; Angela Castellow, Moultrie City Council; Sandi Hurst, mayor of Norman Park; and Penny Houston, representative from the district.

The program for September was presented by the public affairs department. Hart introduced Angela Castellow with the United Way. She described all the agencies that United Way helped and encouraged the members to participate in the “Day of Caring.”

The different departments gave their reports. The conservation department announced the new project — recognizing club members with “Yard of the Month.” The September members receiving this recognition were Jane Gibbs and Susan Mims. Lynda Moseley, chairman, also announced the beautification project in the yard at the clubhouse. Public Affairs asked members to continue the project with the veteran’s bus each week. They also had sign-up sheets for the “Day of Caring.”

The arts department shared important dates to remember concerning activities at the Colquitt County Arts Center. The education department talked about the Ferst Foundation and the importance of children receiving their own books. Home Life Department recognized birthdays and encouraged members to be aware of breast cancer month in October. International Affairs asked members to sign up to help at the Food Bank.

The hostesses for the September meeting were LaRue Norris, Susan Reagan, Faye Rowe, Rhonda Sauls and Virginia Hart.
