Pilot Club of Moultrie celebrates its 88th

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — The Pilot Club of Moultrie, Inc. celebrated its 88th birthday at its October meeting.

Sherry Stewart was in charge of the program. She shared some of the history of the local club with those in attendance. A birthday cake was served to the members.

October is designated as Membership Month for all Pilot Clubs Worldwide. In celebration of membership, new member, the Rev. Jim Houseal, was welcomed into the Moultrie Pilot Club.

Seven local Pilot members attended Fall Council in Macon, Ga., in September. Members attending were club president, Mary Houseal; Kathy Berry; Pennie Casteel; the Rev. Jim Houseal; Norma McKellar; Cherie Searcy; and Laura Williams. The focus of the fall meeting was membership and service. The primary focus of Pilot International is education about brain illnesses and protection of the brain from injury. Several Pilot Clubs of Georgia presented programs, skits and other ideas on how they share information with the public about brain illnesses. The Fall Council meeting ended with Pilot Clubs from all over Georgia participating in the Pilot Memory Walk.

Mary Houseal announced that club members had designated Connie Grandy, club treasurer, as the Pilot International Foundation Sweetheart for Pilot Club of Moultrie. This award recognizes club members’ hard work and dedication to the promotion and support of Pilot Foundation activities. A monetary contribution is made to Pilot International Foundation in honor of Grandy’s commitment to Pilot.

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned.

The Pilot Club of Moultrie meets the first Tuesday of each month, at Western Sizzlin’, at 6 p.m.

For more information, please contact Mary Houseal at 229-985-2776 or visit a meeting.
