Williams awarded state honors

MOULTRIE — Shelia A. Williams of Queen Esther Chapter #67 Order of Eastern Star, Moultrie, was crowned the Grand Queen for Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Jurisdiction of Georgia.

Each district across the Jurisdiction of Georgia gives scholarships to graduating high school seniors to attend a post-secondary school.

Thomasville Masonic District #10 gave more than $16,000 in scholarships. Therefore, Williams, who is the daughter of Randolph and Nellie Williams of Doerun, was crowned the State Queen. She is also the queen for Queen Esther Chapter #67 OES.

The local chapter gave seven scholarships this past year.

Williams has participated in a number of activities throught the district.

On March 16, she will be honored at a Coronation Ball that will be held at Spence Field here in Moultrie. The donation for the ball is $15.

The grand officers are the Honorable Douglas Jones, 33 degree, Most Worshipful Grand Master; Sis. Lynette Hymes, Grand Worthy Matron; and Bro. Marvin Knight, 32 degree, Grand Worthy Patron.

The district officers are Bro. John R. Murphy, 33 degree, District Deputy Grand Master; Sis. Shirley Mullins, District Worthy Matron; and Bro. George Brown Jr., 33 degree, Disrict Worthy Patron.

The local officers are Bro. Derrick Phillips, 32 degree, Worshipful Master, Nehemiah Lodge #138; Sis. Lisa Jackson, Worthy Matron, Queen Esther Chapter #67 Order of Eastern Star; and Bro. Billy Harris, 32 degree, Worthy Patron.
