Property taxpayers who have not paid 2009 taxes in the county have a little over a month before severe penalties really start to kick in.

Dislocated employees in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth counties have a chance to earn money toward their job hunting expenses while the Moultrie Technical College (MTC) Adult Education Program earns money for books.

Sixteen men attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will compete for the title of Mr. ABAC in the 19th annual competition on Feb. 18. Among them is Robby Tillman, an electrical engineering major from Doerun.

The Bank of Lenox has changed its name to The Trust Bank, a move effective Nov. 20, 2009. The name change reflects new ownership of the bank and defines, according to Benjamin Lindsey, chairman of the board of The Trust Bank, “a name which better fits our footprint in South Georgia and what our customers and communities can expect from us.”
