A piece of plastic covers the name of Sgt. Steve McCoy on the Veterans Memorial on the Courthouse Square. Tape around the edge shows where someone unsuccessfully tried to keep the wind from revealing the engraving. The addition to the monument will be unveiled during a memorial service July 19 for McCoy, who died last month from injuries he sustained March 23 in Iraq.
