Morven police find driver from Moultrie wreck
Staff Reports
MOULTRIE — The driver of a pickup was apprehended in Morven after a trailer he was pulling allegedly hit another vehicle in Moultrie Wednesday evening.
Steven Allen Lister, 24, of 3564 Carol Drive in Valdosta, was charged with failure to stop at an accident with damage and failure to maintain lane.
A Moultrie police officer was called to Highway 133 South at the Hawthorne Road intersection at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday about the accident. The officer spoke with Alton Oliff, who stated he and his family were driving on Highway 133 in a Chevrolet Suburban when a red Dodge dually truck swerved into his lane of traffic.
When the Dodge truck swerved, Oliff stated he had to swerve to avoid a head-on collision. The trailer the truck was towing sideswiped the Suburban, causing moderate damage to the windshield and driver’s side. Oliff and the five passengers in the Suburban, including four children, did not report being injured.
Oliff stated the driver of Dodge truck turned on his turn signal, causing him to believe he was going to stop, but then he turned it off and continued on Highway 133 South. Information on the Dodge truck was sent out over the radio, and it was stopped in Morven by a Morven police officer. A second Moultrie police officer went to Morven and placed Lister under arrest and brought him to Colquitt County Jail.
