Girls charged after fight at CCHS

— MOULTRIE — Four teenage girls were apprehended after they allegedly got into a fight at Colquitt County High School Friday morning. An assistant principal was allegedly knocked down and kicked during the incident.
Shakeena Lanese Singletary, 17, of 506 Third Ave. N.W., was charged with fighting in a public place and disrupting public school. Two 16-year-old girls were each charged with battery to a public school official, disrupting public school and fighting. A 15-year-old girl was charged with disrupting public school and fighting.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy school resource officer was at the high school on Park Avenue when Singletary and the two 16-year-old girls began to argue about 7:55 a.m. Friday. The 15-year-old girl then tried to get involved in the argument by pushing her back then holding her as the argument became a fight, authorities said.
As the fight broke out between the three girls, Assistant Principal Darrell Funderburk stepped in to try and break it up, but he was allegedly knocked down. Singletary was also knocked down, and the two 16-year-old girls allegedly began kicking her as she was on the ground, and also kicked Funderburk, the investigator’s report said.
The fight was broken up after several attempts were made by school administrators, and all four girls were charged. Singletary was taken to Colquitt County Jail while the other girls were charged and released to released to their parents or guardians.

• Austin E. Akridge, 21, of 1836 S. Main St., was charged Monday with discharging a firearm within city limits.
• Willie Frank Victum, 64, of 316 Ninth St. S.W., was charged Monday with disorderly conduct.

• Tasha Russell reported a thief kicked in the door at her boyfriend’s house on Fifth Avenue Southeast and stole a 13-inch television, a DVD player, a computer and a fire safe between 8 p.m. Sunday 4:01 p.m. Monday. The value of the stolen items was $730.
• Tommy Hewitt, of Fourth Street Northwest, reported a thief stole a Lorcin .380-caliber handgun between 8:30 a.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Monday. The value of the stolen handgun was $300.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office
• Melissa Williamson reported someone hit the rear window of her Chevrolet Monte Carlo, breaking it out, as she dropped someone off at a house on Doc Lindsay Road in Ellenton Monday. Williamson gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
• Curtis Redmond reported a thief stole a window air conditioning unit from his house on Stiner Road between Jan. 26 and 4 p.m. Monday. The value of the stolen air conditioner was estimated at $300. Redmond gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
• Cleve Dean, of Dandron Road, reported a thief stole a box, containing a gold medallion, an ivory money clip and $1,000 cash, between 8 a.m. Feb. 4 and 2:45 p.m. Monday. The value of the stolen items was estimated at $2,500. Dean gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
• Emily Traylor reported a thief stole her Motorola cell phone from her purse while she was at Colquitt County High School on Park Avenue Friday. The value of the stolen cell phone was $250.
