Castle to speak at black history event

— MOULTRIE — The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. Alfred Jones, will celebrate Black History Month with a program on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. The church celebrates black history the entire month with the youth department presenting moments in history each Sunday morning during the 11 a.m. worship service.
The speaker for the occasion is the Rev. Freddie Castle of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Tifton, Ga. He received his master’s degree of divinity at Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Ga.; his bachelor of science degree at Grambling State University in Grambling, La.; and clinical pastoral education at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta. As pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, he is also employed as clinical chaplain/program consultant at the Telfair State Prison in Helena, Ga. Other activities include president of Fowltown Associations Congress of Christian Education and an instructor with I.T.C.’s continuing education program. He is married to Margie A. Huckaby. They have two sons, Lee and Ryan, and three daughters, Erin, Cadon, and Faryn.
The Gospel Praise Singers (GPS ), under the leadership of the Rev. Darren Roberson, will be the guest choir.
The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church has service every Sunday with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and morning service at 11 a.m. Beginning in March, the church will have an 8 a.m. service. The public is invited.
