Church burglar who sought porn pleads guilty

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — Among the guilty pleas taken in Colquitt County Superior Court before Judge Frank Horkan recent was the church burglary case in which the robber was only interested in porn.

Steven M. Walker, 18, 822 E. Broad St., Doerun, pleaded guilty to first offender burglary and was sentenced to 10 years probation, 160 days in jail with credit for time served, 180 to 365 days detention center, $2,000 fine, 80 hours community service, restitution to Doerun First Methodist Church, curfew and reimburse attorney fees to county.

In August, Walker broke into Doerun First Methodist through a window and accessed pornographic websites on the pastor’s computer, court documents said. In addition, Walker printed out images on the church printer and took them with him when he left, records said.

Outlaw initially was charged with assault with a vehicle, DUI, driving with a suspended license, obstruction, attempt to elude officers, speeding, reckless driving and a window tint violation.

In May, Outlaw while trying to outrun Georgia state troopers recklessly drove his 2001 Nissan through the parking lot of Ameris Bank on the corner of First Avenue and Rowland Drive, narrowly missing a Moultrie man, and ran into the bank before troopers arrested him, court documents said.

Brunson had escaped from the Thomas County Diversion Center in August and was later caught in Americus. He stole a vehicle from Mobley Plant Co. during his flight to Americus.

The interference with government property charges stemmed from damage done at the Colquitt County Jail in October. Brunson had chipped away pieces of a jail cell wall of Pod 1 with rebar.
