MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was apprehended after he allegedly fought with two Colquitt County sheriff’s deputies Saturday night.

Saul Vallejo, 34, of 1311 Overlook Drive, Lot E, was charged with two counts of obstruction, two counts of probation violation and a bench warrant.

A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to a house on Overlook Drive about 10:55 p.m. Saturday about a domestic dispute. The deputy met with Karla Dugue, who stated a man named Saul, later identified as Vallejo, was intoxicated and was allegedly pushing her mother. The mother told deputies she only wanted him to leave the scene.

The deputy got Saul into his car to take him to Funston, but he was told by a witness the man was possibly Vallejo and had warrants for his arrest. Once his identity and the warrants were confirmed, a second deputy came to the scene and was asked to help get Vallejo out for an on-scene breathalyzer test.

When the deputies opened the door, however, Vallejo allegedly lunged at the second deputy, knocking both onto the ground. The two allegedly began to struggle, and the first deputy got on top of Vallejo an attempted to place him in handcuffs and requested additional assistance.

During the struggle, Vallejo allegedly clawed at one deputy’s face and tried to punch and knee the other deputy in the groin. The first deputy then sprayed Vallejo with pepper spray, and he was placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail.
