Christian yoga pioneer to speak at First Baptist
Staff Reports
MOULTRIE — A former Moultrie resident and Christian yoga instructor is coming back to her hometown on Saturday, March 24, to share her testimony.
Susan Bordenkircher will be speaking about faith and yoga at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the First Baptist Church Social Hall. There is no cost to attend, and light refreshments and coffee will be served. The event is being sponsored by the First Ladies Ministry of First Baptist Church.
Bordenkircher is the daughter of Ron and Betty Lewis of Moultrie and now lives in Daphne, Ala., with her husband Greg and two sons.
Bordenkircher recently released a book, “Yoga for Christians,” and has made a video series combining yoga and her Christian faith and created the Outstretched in Worship ministry. One of the leaders in the Christian yoga movement, she also held a national tour last year to promote the book and video series.
Several churches, Christian retreats and denominational conventions are incorporating yoga as a creative approach to cultivate a quiet, receptive spirit and deep prayer life. Bordenkircher stated God gave her the vision for her yoga-based ministry, and it has been used as a pioneer ministry of sorts.
