Assaults, sex crimes among indictments

MOULTRIE — Felony indictments were handed down recently in Colquitt County Superior Court.
The following were indicted on the charges listed:
• Manuel H. Zavala, 77, Sardis Church Road, child molestation and misdemeanor public indecency for allegedly exposing his private parts to girls under the age of 10 Nov. 22 on Sardis Church Road. This is a repeat offense for Zavala.
• Ponikarski Green, 25, 1014 Sixth Ave. N.W., aggravated battery. On Nov. 19, Green at the Colquitt County Jail allegedly kicked Terrell Dunbar in the face, breaking his jaw in several places.
• Shannon Dale Horne, 33, 115 Lupo Road, Doerun, possession of hydrocodone and Xanax and misdemeanor driving under the influence/less safe.
• Michael Paul Smith, 23, F-7 Jac-Lyn Apts., 26th Avenue Southeast, two counts aggravated assault on a peace officer allegedly with a firearm at 604 16th St. S.W. on Nov. 24. Smith was also indicted on possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and misdemeanor loitering or prowling.
• Gregory F. Blackburn, 30. 456 Shady Grove Road, possession of cocaine Oct. 19, misdemeanor possession and use of drug related objects, misdemeanor defective equipment and misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
• Verena Laporte, 54, 1995 Camilla Highway, cocaine possession and misdemeanor theft by shoplifting allegedly at Oxley’s 818 W. Central Ave. Oct. 4 and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.
• James A. Bentley, 35, 701 Hillcrest Ave. S.E., rape allegedly of a girl under the age of 18 July 4 on Seventh Street Southeast.
• Ornsby Jenkins, 50, 900 Bonnie Circle, theft by taking. Jenkins allegedly stole air conditioning parts, 16 tractor tires and brake pads and hose from Sanderson Farms valued at $4,284 between July and September.
• Danny Lamar Thomas, 37, 406 Seventh Ave. S.E., two counts first degree forgery and misdemeanor theft by taking allegedly involving the account of L&L Pavement Maintenance Inc. for $250 in October.
• Tanwand Allen, 25, Tallahassee, theft by receiving stolen property, theft by bringing stolen property into state, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, misdemeanor driving without a license, reckless driving, turn signal violation, giving false name, address or birth date to an officer. Allen allegedly drove a stolen 2000 Chevrolet Prism, property of Lilian Boyd, across the state lines Jan. 9.
• Terry Lamar Sanders, 27, 411 First Ave. S.W., possession of firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, misdemeanor concealed weapon and misdemeanor carrying a pistol without a license. On Jan. 13, Sanders allegedly possessed a KelTech 9 mm pistol in the 600 block of Eighth Avenue Northwest. The pistol had been stolen from Baell Mercantile, court documents said.
• Toby Dean Glover, 31, no address listed, cocaine possession, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, four counts misdemeanor obstruction of an officer and five felony counts obstruction. On Sept. 17, Glover allegedly struck an officer in the shoulder with his fist, knocking him backwards and causing the officer to jam his finger on the ground in the 500 block of South Main Street.
• Andre L. Hunt, 43, 208 Eighth St. S.W., four counts first degree forgery.
