MOULTRIE — Mother Easter Baptist Church will host its Annual Prayer Breakfast Saturday, March 28, starting at 9 a.m., in the E.H. Hopkins Fellowship Hall. The Rev. Alfred Jones will be the guest speaker.
Jones is a native of Lowndes County, Ga. He is the son of Gladys Jones and the late Deacon Melvin J.D. Jones. He has a sister, Evelyn Hunter, and a brother, Melvin Jones.
He attended grade school in the Lowndes County School System and earned a degree from Valdosta Technical College in radiology. He also earned a bachelor’s of science degree in vocational education from Valdosta State University. He later received a master’s degree in theology from Bethany Divinity College and Seminary.
Jones came to Colquitt County in the late 1970s and joined Mother Easter Baptist Church. He served for 25 years as a member, deacon, chairman of the Deacon Board, choir director, and minister of music.
He is married to DaLaonne Jones, formerly of Adel, Ga. They have three children, Selena Todd, Terrence Alexis Jones and Jonathan Kyle Jones; a grandson, Aaron R. Todd; and two granddaughters, Mataya A. Jones and the late Faith Jones.
Presently, he is the pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and an instructor at Moultrie Technical College. He serves as the vice president of the Colquitt County Interdenominational Christian Alliance of Colquitt County.
