MOULTRIE A Moultrie man was apprehended early Monday morning after he allegedly kept a woman from making a call to 911 Sunday night. The woman, however, was able to get help by contacting someone through the Internet, authorities said.
Chad Allen Brown, 20, of 10 Pearl St., was charged with simple battery (family violence), criminal trespassing, obstructing a 911 call (family violence) and underage consumption of alcohol.
A woman in Berlin contacted 911 at 10:19 p.m. Sunday about a domestic disturbance at a house on Pearl Street. The woman was contacted by Diana Contreras through the Web site MySpace.com.
When officers arrived at the house and spoke with Contreras, who is pregnant, she stated Brown allegedly assaulted her as she tried to mend their relationship. She said Brown allegedly returned to the house after drinking beer and called her various derogatory names.
When Contreras went to call 911, she stated Brown allegedly threw the phone into the kitchen sink. Contreras retrieved the phone and tried to call 911 a second time, but he allegedly broke the phone. During that incident, Contreras had an abrasion to her right arm, investigators reports stated.
When officers spoke with the Berlin woman about the incident, she stated Contreras contacted her about the incident through the Web site. She then contacted 911 to report the incident.
Officers were able to speak with Brown at about 12:40 a.m. Monday, and he stated Contreras had cut his arm with a knife. Officers spotted an open can of beer in his Volkswagen Golf, and he was then placed under arrest and was taken to Colquitt County Jail, the reports said.
