High-speed chase from Berlin ends in Moultrie

— BERLIN — A Moultrie man faces multiple traffic charges after a Saturday night chase that began in Berlin and ended in downtown Moultrie when his car struck a utility pole.
Julius Marquis Sesler, 25, of 839 Shy Manor Drive, was charged with attempting to elude officers, failure to maintain lane, approaching a marked emergency vehicle, two counts of speeding, four counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, three counts of failure to obey a traffic control device, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, duty to stop upon striking a fixture, DUI and a parole violation.
A Berlin police officer was conducting a traffic stop in Berlin about 11:50 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle allegedly sped by him and almost hit him. The officer got behind the car and attempted to pull the vehicle over on Highway 133 North, but it would not stop, reaching speeds of 90 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to law enforcement reports.
Colquitt County sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit. The vehicle continued into the city limits of Moultrie without slowing down, reaching speeds of 88 mph in a 45-mph zone, reports said.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle struck and broke a utility pole then hit a chain-link fence on Fourth Avenue Southwest. The driver, identified as Sesler, was placed under arrest and was taken to Colquitt County Jail.
