7:45 p.m. update: No one hurt in plane crash

Stories The Observer is working on for its Thursday edition:

• The pilot and two passengers were unhurt when their small airplane thumped down in a Colquitt County wheat field about a mile from Spence Field Wednesday.

• The Georgia Department of Transportation is urging the City of Moultrie to close Fifth Avenue where it intersects First Avenue Southeast. It's a stop-gap measure to increase safety at the intersection until the DOT can make its plans for the area a reality.

• Colquitt Countians prepare to celebrate the centennial of the Confederate monument on the Courthouse Square. The event will be 3 p.m. Sunday.

• A Coolidge child is recovering two weeks after a neighbor's border collie mauled her. Hanna Cannon required 163 stitches.
