Fire ravages mobile home

Staff Reports

DOERUN — Fire severely damaged a mobile home Wednesday morning in Doerun.

No injuries were reported in the blaze at 710 E. Union Drive, Lot 3, according to volunteer firefighters, who were called to the fire at 3:38 a.m.

“About half of it [was] on fire when we got there,” said Doerun VFD Chief John Walters. “It was already through the roof.”

The double-wide mobile home was pretty well gutted, Walters said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.

Firefighters from Doerun, Funston, New Elm and Bay VFDs responded. Resident Joann Dozier was assisted by the Red Cross, Walters said.
