Officer injured while in pursuit of suspect

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie police officer was injured when she tried to chase down a suspect who fled into some woods early Monday morning.
The officer, Kimberly Weissinger, was on First Avenue Southeast at 1:26 a.m. Monday when she spotted a black male walking off of the back porch at Rayon Supermarket and fled on foot. The man was carrying a long, unknown object in his hand, and the officer began to pursue him.
The officer yelled for the man to stop several times as she called in her location over the radio. The man stumbled as he ran, and she was able to take him down before she was hit in the head with an unknown object.
The officer let go of the man after she was hit, and he escaped behind Harvey’s Supermarket. The officer was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center and was treated for a concussion, and she had a knot on the right side of her head, a swollen cheek and bruising. A hospital spokesperson said she was treated for her injuries and released Monday.

• Richard Anthony Ozzello, 46, of 404 E. Central Ave., Apt. 3, was charged Friday with disorderly conduct.
• Daniel Alford, 50, of 306 11th Court S.E., was charged Friday with simple battery (family violence).
• Maria Delacruz, 19, of 20 30th Ave. N.E., was charged Friday with driving without a license and tail lights required.
• Scott Shealey, 33, of 616 Third Ave. S.W., was charged Saturday with simple battery (family violence) and battery.
• Deborah Knighton, 29, of 713 Second St. N.W., was charged Saturday with duty to obey an officer, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
• Dennis Mitchell, 38, of 324 First Ave. N.W., was charged Saturday with duty to obey an officer, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
• Elbernezer Bershon Walker, 36, of 508 Third St. N.W., was charged Saturday with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and theft by conversion.
• Juan Carlos Dominguez, 30, of 731 Sumner Road, was charged Saturday with defective equipment, driving with an expired tag, DUI (second offense), driving with a suspended license and giving false information to an officer.
• Omar Najera, 38, of 1268 Sylvester Drive, was charged Saturday with an open container violation.
• Aaron Jamerson, 21, of 1320 Murdock St., was charged Saturday with criminal trespassing.
• Marco Delacruz, 17, of 20 30th Ave. N.E., was charged Saturday with driving without a license and reckless driving.
• Luis Gonzalez, 28, of 22018 S. Laguna Seca Road in Edinburg, Texas, was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.
• Luis Navarro, 24, of 657 Circle Road, was charged Sunday with driving without a license.
• Alejandro Rojas, 23, of 1692 Highway 33 N., was charged Sunday with theft by receiving stolen property, theft by shoplifting and driving without a license.
• Shaunta Quinette Moore, 30, of 613 12th Ave. S.E., was charged Sunday with driving with a suspended license and driving without a tag.• Ashlee Jeanette Cobb, 18, of 717-B Third Ave. S.E., was charged Sunday with illegal possession of alcohol.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office
• Carlos Trejo, 21, of 272 Cedar St., was charged Sunday with driving without a license, failure to maintain lane and no proof of insurance.
• Marcelo Urbina, 27, of Patrick Lane in Omega, was charged Saturday with driving without a license, speeding and attempting to elude officers.
• Moses Velsaco Ramos, 25, of 165 Ridge Road, was charged Saturday with DUI, driving without a license and failure to maintain lane.

Department of Natural Resources
• Patrick Head Mellen, 47, of 1913 Darwin St. in Green Bay, Wis., was charged Sunday with driving without a license, driving too fast for conditions and DUI.

Georgia State Patrol
• Scott Allen Saucier, 28, of 171 Clarence Norman Road, was charged Friday with DUI, an open container violation, driving with suspended registration and failure to maintain lane.
• Whitney Giovanni Davis, 17, of 901 Hillcrest Ave., was charged Friday with driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Other Incidents:
Moultrie Police
• Sandra Nunn, of First Avenue Northwest, reported a thief stole a stove, a Frigidaire refrigerator, a washing machine and a Microsoft X-box 360 between 11 a.m. May 6 and 10:20 a.m. Friday. The value of the stolen items was $3,600.
• Glenda Hall reported someone ran over a chain link fence at the Moultrie Housing Authority on 10th Avenue Southeast between 4 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday. Damage was about $550.
• An employee at the Moultrie Observer on North Main Street reported finding a counterfeit $20 bill Friday.
• An employee at CVS Pharmacy on South Main Street reported someone attempted to alter a prescription Friday. Officers were given the name of a female suspect. The employee reported a second person called in three prescriptions for a child using a physician’s assistant’s name April 19. Officers were given the name of a female suspect.
• Johnny Jones, of Ninth Street Northwest, reported a male acquaintance stole a legion suit, a 32-inch television and an air conditioner between 11:20 a.m. Friday and 7:21 a.m. Saturday. The value of the stolen items was $1,000.
• Pamela Adams, of Sixth Avenue Northwest, reported someone kicked in her front door, damaging the door jam, between 3 p.m. Friday and 7:37 a.m. Saturday. Damage was $150. Adams gave officers the name of a male suspect.
• Tiffany Nobles reported a thief stole a lawn mower, cookware and a tent from her former house on Hillcrest Avenue between May 1 and 11:45 a.m. Saturday. The value of the stolen items was $440.
• Evelyn Cox reported a thief stole her handbag, containing $130 cash, her license, Social Security card and a checkbook, from her cart while she was at Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway Sunday. The value of the stolen items was $134.
• On officer on patrol found someone threw a brick through a window at the Bread of Life on West Central Avenue Sunday. Damage was estimated at $300.
• An attendant at Express Lane on South Main Street reported a thief pumped $47.74 in gasoline Sunday and left without paying for it. The vehicle used was a purple four-door sedan, driven by a black female or a black male, but officers were not given its tag number.
• Curtis Martin, of Second Avenue Southeast, reported someone shot the tag of his Mazda Tribute Monday.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office
• Robert Riggs, of Sylvester Highway, reported two black males punched him, kicked him in the side and hit him in the head with a beer bottle Saturday. Riggs had two swollen eyes, scratches on his arms and a small cut on the back of his head from the incident.
