Juvenile charged in knife attack
Staff Reports
MOULTRIE — A juvenile girl was arrested after she allegedly swung a knife at her mother and threatened to cut her grandmother with it Wednesday afternoon.
The girl was charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats and acts.
A Moultrie police officer was called to a house on Eighth Street Southwest at 2:33 p.m. Wednesday about the incident. He spoke with the girl’s mother, and she told him the girl had been in a fight with her father before he left the house to go back to work.
After he left, the girl allegedly began to argue with her mother and tried to punch her, the woman told police. As the altercation became physical, the girl allegedly picked up a knife and swung it at her mother in a slashing motion.
The girl then allegedly threatened to cut her mother and her grandmother, who was also at the scene, with the knife, police said.
The girl was placed under arrest and taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Thomasville.
