Numerous arrests, thefts reported
Staff Reports
MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was apprehended after he was allegedly seen trying to steal items from an SUV Saturday morning.
Demetrius Antonio Roney, 42, of 717 Hillcrest Ave., was charged with entering an automobile.
Lewis Scott, of Third Street Northwest, reported he was leaving his house about 7:30 a.m. Saturday when he saw someone inside his Isuzu Pup. When the man, later identified as Roney, got out of the SUV, he allegedly was carrying a plastic bag full of Scott’s fishing lures.
When Scott confronted Roney about the items, the two men got into an altercation, police reports said. Scott stated he tackled Roney and hit him several times, but Roney was able to get away and fled the scene. The bag of lures was dropped as Roney fled, and they were later returned to Scott, the reports said.
Officers searched the area for Roney following the incident but were unable to locate him. Roney surrendered to an officer later in the day on Saturday and was placed under arrest and was taken to Colquitt County Jail.
