No one injured in blaze of gunfire
Staff Reports
NORMAN PARK — A bevy of gunfire rang out in Norman Park Saturday night, but no one was hurt even though the bullets were flying.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to a house on Cool Springs Road about 8 p.m. Saturday. He spoke with Gilberto Alarcon, who stated he and his brother-in-law, Enrique Maldonado, were at Lindsay’s Grocery on Ellenton-Norman Park Road.
While they were there, Alarcon stated a male acquaintance came up to Maldonado and threatened to kill him. The acquaintance went to his truck and got a gun while Maldonado called Alarcon.
When Alarcon arrived at the scene, the officer’s report stated, the male acquaintance left in his truck, and he and Maldonado followed him down Cool Springs Road. The acquaintance stopped his truck and fired an unknown amount of times at Alarcon and Maldonado. Alarcon stated he returned fire, firing about 14 times from his Ruger 9mm pistol.
Following the shooting, Alarcon and Maldonado returned home and called 911 to report the incident. Neither man stated they were hit during the shoot-out, but it was not known if the other shooter had been injured.
