MOULTRIE — A family of four was left without a home Thursday morning after it was destroyed by fire.
Volunteer firefighters from the New Elm, Northside, Doerun and Norman Park volunteer fire departments were called to 307 Captain Gay Road about 11 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, the house was engulfed in flames and was destroyed despite their efforts.
No one was inside the house when the fire started, but the cause and where the fire started could not be determined.
The American Red Cross was also on hand to provide the family with a temporary shelter and vouchers for necessities.
