Child hit by car Friday

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — A 23-month-old boy was recovering at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville Monday after he was hit by a car Friday night.

The child was taken to Archbold after the accident on Fifth Street Southwest. A hospital spokesperson said his condition was confidential because he is a minor.

Police said a Honda Accord, driven by Brittany Thornton, of 602 First Ave. N.W., was driving on Fifth Street Southwest near the First Avenue Southwest intersection. At 9:27 p.m. Friday, the child ran out onto Fifth Street Southwest in front of the Accord.

Thornton tried to stop the car, but she was unable to and struck the child, police reports stated. The extent of the boy’s injuries were not known at the time of the report, but he was taken directly to Archbold following the accident. No charges or citations were given to Thornton as a result of the collision.
