DOERUN — A Doerun man was apprehended after he allegedly fired a gun at his stepson Friday afternoon.
Dennis Jerome Scott, 53, of 280 Highway 270 W. in Doerun, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to Scott’s house about 3 p.m. Friday to assist the Doerun Police Department related to a domestic dispute. The deputy spoke with a witness, and she stated she and Scott allegedly got into an argument about money. Tanorris Allen, 22, stepped between his mother and Scott to keep them from arguing, the sheriff’s report stated.
Scott allegedly told Tanorris to wait where he was while he went to get a gun. Scott allegedly pointed the gun at Tanorris and fired one shot at him, but Tanorris was not injured. Scott allegedly then told everyone to leave the house, which they did and a call was made to 911.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s investigator arrived at the scene, and Scott was placed under arrest and was taken to Colquitt County Jail.
