MOULTRIE — An argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend brought a Colquitt County deputy to a Crosby Road residence Thursday morning, where he discovered what is believed to be methamphetamine.

Four people — Marsha Mae Denmark, 31, of 1358 Pierce Church Road in Cairo; William Jonas Johns, 26, of 826 Midway Road in Cairo; Ronald Wayne McCall, 32, of 574 Crosby Road; and Melissa Ann Stevens, 30, of 545 Bond Road, Lot 6, in Cairo — were each charged with criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of pseudoephedrine not in its original form.

A sheriff’s deputy was called to a house on Crosby Road at 10:36 a.m. Thursday about a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Denmark, who was upset and unable to tell much about the incident.

The deputy then spoke with McCall, and he stated Denmark and Johns — McCall’s ex-wife and her boyfriend — got into an argument about getting her children in Cairo, who had recently been taken by DFCS in Cairo. The two had come to the house on Crosby Road because they were having trouble finding anywhere else to stay.

A witness then spoke with the deputy, and he stated Denmark and Johns began to argue and allegedly were swinging pipes and boards at each other. The deputy said the witness told him the argument did not start about the children but allegedly about “meth.”

Other deputies arrived at the scene, and they tried to speak with McCall, Denmark, Johns and Stevens about the suspected methamphetamine there, but all allegedly denied any drugs were there. As Denmark and Johns loaded a van with their belongings, however, a deputy found a plastic bottle close to the van with what appeared to be methamphetamine inside, and all four were placed under arrest.

The deputies went to where the bottle was found and spotted a path in the wood line. As they walked the path, they found coffee filters with suspected methamphetamine. A 15-year-old boy told the deputies they could find more methamphetamine on top of the kitchen cabinets.

Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team investigators arrived and collected evidence, and the four were taken to Colquitt County Jail. The 15-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy were turned over the Colquitt County DFCS.
