One person hurt in Veterans Parkway collision

MOULTRIE — One person reported being injured from a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.

Melody Mallard, of 970 Causey Road, was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center with injuries from the collision. A hospital spokesperson said she was treated for her injuries and released Thursday.

A Nissan Altima, driven by Mallard, was Fifth Avenue Southeast and entered the intersection with Veterans Parkway at 4:27 p.m. Thursday. A Ford F-150 truck, driven by Robert Allen, of 1500 Old Doerun Road, was on Veterans Parkway and also entered the intersection, and the two vehicles collided.

When a Moultrie police officer arrived at the scene, Mallard stated she had a green light when she entered the intersection. Allen told the officer he did not know if his light was green or red when he entered the intersection. Allen was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign, but Mallard was not cited or charged in the accident.

Both the F-150 and Altima had moderate damage as a result of the collision, but Allen did not report any injuries.
