THOMASVILLE — A 30-year-old Brooks County man who admitted e-mailing inappropriate material to children is in custody in Brooks County.

Donald Forrest Powell, 1400 Coffee Road, Dixie, is charged with computer child exploitation and computer pornography.

The case began in Thomas County when the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Thomas County Department of Family and Children Services about questionable behavior between Powell and a teenage boy.

The teen was not certain whether the activity had taken place in Thomas County or Brooks County.

Investigators discovered a disk in Powell’s possession of preteen children in a shower in “an improper embrace,” said Lt. Tim Watkins, sheriff’s office chief investigator.

Assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested. Powell told a GBI agent he had e-mailed inappropriate material to children.

The suspect was arrested by sheriff’s officers and transferred to Brooks County.

It was determined the offense had taken place in Brooks County.

“He said he e-mailed from his residence,” Watkins explained.

The e-mails involved teens and younger children.

A forensic examination of Powell’s computer will be conducted.

“It will go back and show all the images on his computer and give a history of where they went and where they came from,” Watkins said.
