Woman says man tried to run her over

— MOULTRIE — A Moultrie woman reported a male acquaintance tried to run her over with an SUV Wednesday night.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to a house on Doc Darbyshire Road at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday about the incident. The deputy spoke with Elizabeth Fraley, and she stated she and the male acquaintance had spent the evening talking at the house when he got into his Chevrolet Tahoe to leave.
When he got into the Tahoe, Fraley stated she reached inside and grabbed a pair of sunglasses. The man became upset and demanded she give the sunglasses back or give him some movies back, but she refused to do either and walked away from the SUV.
As Fraley walked away, she stated the Tahoe was coming at her in an attempt to run her over. She was able to get out of the way but stated the vehicle caught her left leg as it left the scene. The deputy did not see a mark on her leg but saw tire tracks from where she stated the incident took place.

Arrests
Moultrie Police
• Kindall Kirk Smith, 44, of 727 First Ave. N.W., was charged Wednesday with driving with an expired tag, no proof of insurance and probation violation.

Colquitt County S.O.
• Antonio Vanshaun Thornton, 32, of 1957 Sylvester Highway, Lot 24, was charged Wednesday with simple battery and criminal trespassing.
• Ashley McGee, 22, of 2826 Sylvester Drive, was charged Wednesday with two counts of battery (family violence) and cruelty to children.

Other Incidents
Moultrie Police
• An employee at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society on First Street Northeast reported a thief damaged a file cabinet and stole $150 cash and a check between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:54 a.m. Wednesday. Damage and the value of the stolen items was $420.
• Pam Fowler reported a thief stole a Samsung window air conditioning unit, two computers and a box of power tools from a business on East Central Avenue between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9:01 a.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen items was $425.
• Irene Coleman, of 10th Street Southeast, reported someone cut seven water hoses between June 1 and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Damage was about $100.

Colquitt County S.O.
• An employee at Rent-A-Center on Talmadge Drive reported Wednesday a thief stole a rented Toshiba 37-inch television June 25. The value of the stolen television was $1,403. Sheriff’s deputies were given the name of a female suspect.
• An employee at David Taylor Construction on Highway 319 North reported a thief threw a piece of iron through a window and stole an MTM pressure washer and a Craftsman chainsaw between 6 p.m. June 26 and 1 p.m. Saturday. Damage and the value of the stolen items was estimated at $1,380.
