Gunmen rob video store

MOULTRIE — Robbers got away with almost $7,000 in cash and merchandise when they held up a Moultrie business June 26.
Moultrie Police Investigator Cpl. Dave Underwood said five Hispanic males entered the Video Tienda Jesus Y Maria on First Street Northeast at 1:08 p.m. June 26. When they entered, they pulled guns and walked the clerk on duty to the back of the store.
Once the clerk was in the back, Underwood said, she was tied up while four of the robbers went through the store while one stayed with the clerk. They stole more than $5,000 cash from the registers, two gold chains, two gold pendants, three gold rings, three pairs of earrings, a watch, an LG cell phone and 157 calling cards. The value of the stolen items was $6,940.
After the robbers left the store, Underwood said, the clerk was able to free herself and called 911. Witnesses told officers they saw the robbers leaving in two vehicles, a silver or gray Lexus and a bronze Chevrolet Trailblazer.
The robbery remained under investigation as of Thursday morning, Underwood said. Officers were able to obtain security camera footage of the robbery.
