Moultrie planning director leaving
MOULTRIE — City of Moultrie Planning and Community Development Director Ronald Burton will be leaving his position on July 31. He has been employed with the City of Moultrie for three-and-a-half years.
Burton has accepted a position with the City of Port Arthur, Texas, as assistant director of planning and grants management.
During his time as planning and community development director, Burton has been involved in the following projects:
• Hosting the Quality Growth Resource Team’s visit in July 2006. The visit was a DCA-coordinated, week-long event with a 35-member team of planning and development professionals.
• Moultrie’s participation in the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing program sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association, Georgia Department of Community Affairs and the University of Georgia Demographic Research Center.
• Partnered with the faith-based community to contribute to overall neighborhood revitalization as part of the city goal to improve living conditions in the community.
• Initiated efforts to work in the Northwest Moultrie neighborhood as an area needing attention.
• Partnered with Colquitt County and other municipalities and produced a new comprehensive plan 2008-2028.
• Secured grant funding of $11,250 for the city’s first housing plan.
• Worked with the RDC and reviewed the subdivision regulations in order to ensure that future development fits the needs of the City of Moultrie. These new regulations will be adopted in August 2008.
