BERLIN — There will be a Kids Safety Night in Berlin on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the park behind Berlin City Hall and the police department.
“It was something we decided to do for the kids before school started back,” said Sgt. Eric Sowards of the Berlin Police Department.
He said there will be safety demonstrations, which will include the Moultrie Fire Department’s Smoke House and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety “Teen Ride with Pride,” a safety belt demonstration for teen-agers. The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department will have its trucks on display and EMS will have an ambulance on display. Also, school resource officers and police officers from Moultrie and Berlin police departments will be in attendance.
A bounce house will be available for younger children and prizes will be given away. There will also be free hamburgers and hot dogs. Sowards encourages parents to come an bring their children for the many activities.
He said this event has been made possible through sponsorships by Harvey’s, Winn-Dixie, South Georgia Discount Store and private donations.
