MOULTRIE — Colquitt County volunteer firefighters responded to a house fire Monday morning and smoke inside a house Tuesday morning. No one living at either house, however, was injured.
Firefighters from the Northside, Southside and Funston Volunteer Fire Departments were called to 351 W. Bethel Ave. about 9:35 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, there was fire coming from the roof of the mobile home, occupied by Jerri Vinson and her grandson.
The fire was contained mostly to the mobile home’s attic, but there was heavy damage. A hole was burned in the roof, and part of it caved in, but the house’s interior was mostly left intact. There was heavy fire and heat damage to the roof and smoke damage throughout the house.
The cause of the fire was not known following an investigation.
In a second incident, volunteers from the Northside, Norman Park and Southside Volunteer Fire Departments were called to 148 Shady Grove Road about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. Smoke had filled the house, but no fire was found during a search, and the smoke was vented out. The source of the smoke was not found but believed to have come from an air conditioning unit.
