TIFTON — South Georgia Banking Company announces that at the company’s most recent annual stockholder meeting, Jonathan E. Jones was elected to the Board of Directors. Jones is president and co-owner of Jones Construction Company and Double A. Concrete Products, family-owned businesses founded in 1946. During his time with these companies, he has served through a wide range of positions, including project development and management, risk and contract administration, and financial planning.
“We are very pleased that Jonathan is joining our board of directors,” said Pait Willis, chairman of the board. “The Jones family has been a part of the bank for many years. His father, Royce, previously served as director until his untimely death last year, and their construction company has built all of our buildings at locations in Tift and Colquitt counties. We know Jonathan’s character and business strength will serve us well and are looking forward to continued association with this fine family group.”
Jones, a graduate of Tift County High School, holds a bachelor’s degree in building construction from Auburn University and a master’s of business administration from Jones School of Management at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
An actively involved member of the community, Jones is president and board member of the Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence and is on the board of directors for the Tiftarea YMCA. Other civic involvement includes serving on the advisory committees for Tift County Schools and the City of Tifton as well as being a member of Tifton Rotary Club. He also serves as a trustee for Brewton-Parker College and is a director of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
A member of Northside Baptist Church, he and his wife, Betsy, are parents of 6-year-old triplets, Will, Becca and Hays.
