Battle of bands scheduled

MOULTRIE — Battle of the Bands is making a come back at the Colquitt County Arts Center.

There will be five events, featuring competitions for different styles of music each time, starting in October and running through April of 2009.

• Friday, Oct. 17 will be acoustic, gospel (vocalist and bands), and Christian Rock.

• Saturday, Nov. 22 will be indie/punk/alternative, rock, and pop.

• Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 will be rap/hip hop, metal, and screamo.

• Saturday, March 21, 2009 will be southern/classic rock, country, and bluegrass.

• Saturday, April 25, 2009 all the winners of the previous battles will playoff.

Participants can register now for any of the battles and can view the entry form and rules at www.myspace.com/battleofthe bandsccac. The entry fee is $75 and prizes will include cash and recording time at an Albany recording studio. Bands who have competed in previous battles are encouraged to participate.

The deadline for registration for the first band battle is Oct. 12.
