Mattie Pauline Dixon Carlton
DOERUN — Mattie Pauline Dixon Carlton, 87, of Doerun, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, Oct. 2, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Tomlinson and the Rev. David Benton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Casketbearers will be Lewis Brooks, Carlton Brooks, Dennis Knight, Randy Carlton, Carlton Powell, Robert Carlton and Donald Phinazee. Honorary casketbearers will be Larry Jenkins, Lonnie Blalock and the deacons of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Born Oct. 28, 1920, in Glascock County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Pierce Dixon and Rebecca Phinazee Dixon. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Trevor “J.T.” Carlton; a granddaughter, Donna Kimbrel; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include one son, Larry Carlton and wife Gloria of Doerun; one daughter, Elaine Simmons and husband Darrell of Doerun; six grandchildren, Cindy Watkins, Toni Simmons, Traci Brooks, Trev Simmons, Sandra Lovett and David Kimbrel; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today, Oct. 2, at the church.
