Man accused of trying to fight dogs

Staff Reports

DOERUN — A Doerun man reported another man tried to get four dogs to get into a fight with each other Thursday morning.

A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to a house on Minnesota Road in Doerun about 11:40 a.m. Thursday. The deputy spoke with Ricky Alford, who stated he left for a doctor’s appointment about 11:10 a.m. with his two dogs outside in the yard.

When Alford returned home about 10 minutes later, he stated a male acquaintance was standing in the yard with his two dogs. The acquaintance appeared to be trying to get his dogs to fight Alford’s two dogs. Alford’s wife was watching the incident from the house trying to get the man to stop.

Alford stated he told the acquaintance to leave his yard and he was going to call law enforcement. The man took his two dogs and left the scene without any of the dogs getting into a fight.
