MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was charged Monday after he allegedly got into an argument with a woman and possibly dragged her on a truck Saturday night.

David Lee Barwick Jr., 27, of 4809 Bay Rockyford Road in Coolidge, was charged Monday with reckless conduct and battery.

An officer was at Colquitt Regional Medical Center about another incident when an employee came to him about 9:40 a.m. Sunday. The officer spoke with Shannon Coble, and she stated she and a friend had gone to a house Saturday night and met with Barwick.

During the evening, Coble stated two other girls came to the house, and Barwick allegedly asked Coble and her friend to leave. According to a witness, Coble and he began to argue. Despite the argument, he agreed to give Coble a ride to a convenience store so a friend could take her and her friend back Berlin.

Upon arriving at the South Main Petro, Barwick allegedly told Coble to get out of the truck, but she refused to do so. He then began hitting her the face and pushed her out of the truck, and the witness stated the two continued to argue outside of the truck.

Barwick allegedly got back into the truck and began to leave when Coble got to the driver’s side to say something to him. The truck began to move, causing Coble to “fall flat on her face” as the it left the store. When asked if she had been dragged, Coble stated she blacked out when she hit the pavement and could not remember if she was dragged or not.

Following the incident, a relative arrived at the convenience store and took Coble and her friend home to Berlin. The wounds were cleaned up there, but she was brought to Colquitt Regional Sunday morning after the severity of the injuries was realized. She had severe abrasions to the right side of her face, her neck and right shoulder, right arm and right knee.

The officer went to the convenience store and found blood on the pavement leading to Lower Meigs Road. When the officer returned to the hospital, he found out Coble also suffered a broken jaw, broken elbow, fractured cheek bones, soft tissue injuries and a concussion. A hospital spokesperson said Coble was treated for all the injuries and released Sunday.
