MPD ‘special detail’ makes arrests at shooting scene
Staff Reports
MOULTRIE — Moultrie Police Department officers made six arrests Thursday night in the area where a patrol car was struck by a bullet on Wednesday, but none of Thursday’s charges were directly linked to the shooting.
Police reports described the presence of officers as a “special detail” working in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The purpose of the operation was to “curb complaints with persons trespassing and to further an investigation where an unknown subject had shot at a police department patrol car.”
Several shots were fired in the same vicinity on Wednesday night, one of which punctured the passenger door on the driver’s side of the patrol car.
Investigators believe that the shots fired Wednesday night came from around the apartment complex or an adjacent lot.
In one instance Thursday night police arrested a man who ignored officers’ orders to leave the area and used profanity, police reports said. In that case, Dechane Williams, 19, 804 Joe Louis Ave. N.W., was charged with disorderly conduct.
Police reports said that Williams was walking toward a crowd of people officers were “dealing with” at the time. When asked to leave, Dechane “became unruly” and also used profanity, at which point he was arrested.
Other arrests made during the Thursday operation included:
• Donterrious Williams, 17, 804 Joe Louis Ave., and Anwar Jerrell Arnold, 19, 1130 16th St. S.E., were each charged with trespassing.
Police reports said the teens were behind Moultrie Manor and they were arrested because they did not live in the apartment complex and could not give an apartment number where they were visiting.
• Arnisha Lashaun Patillo, 412 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, possession of marijuana.
• Darrian Williams, 18, 804 Joe Louis Ave., possession of marijuana.
• Calbert Allen, 17, 803 Third St. N.W., possession of marijuana.
In other arrests
• Matthew Ryan Fender, 24, 118 Cleveland St., Ellenton, was charged Thursday with theft by taking, battery and cruelty to children.
