Fraternity to celebrate Founders Day

MOULTRIE — Mu Beta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. of Thomasville will celebrate its Founders Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Moultrie.

The four founding brothers — Ernest E. Just, Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Cooper and Frank Coleman — will be honored.

The speaker will be the Rev. Jermaine Harris of Albany.

Harris is a native of Stewart County, Ga., and a 1997 graduate of Stewart-Quitman High School. He furthered his education at Fort Valley State University and graduated from Georgia Southwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Turner Seminary at The Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.

Harris has pastored Mayfield Zion and St. James AME churches in Dawson.

In 2008, he was one of five elected to serve on the AME Church General Board representing the Sixth Episcopal District (State of Georgia).

He is married to Tara C. Harris, and their children are K.D. and Nicholas. He is a member of Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
