Moultrian assaulted, robbed Saturday

John Oxford

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man reported he was held up and robbed at gunpoint Saturday night.

A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to Highway 133 South at 9:26 p.m. about a robbery. The deputy spoke with a Moultrie police officer, who was serving as a translator for Efrain Cinto.

Cinto told the deputy he and a friend were walking on Sardis Church Road when a green Ford Expedition pulled up next to them. Two unknown black males jumped out of the vehicle carrying guns and came up to Cinto and his friend.

One of the robbers hit Cinto in the left eye with the stock of a shotgun then reached into his pants pocket.

The robber stole $3 cash from him before both men jumped back into the Expedition and fled the scene, tdeputy’s report stated.

It was the second armed robbery where two black men struck a Hispanic man and stole money in just over a week. Jose Gamboa was struck with a pistol and had $210 cash stolen from him at his house on Magnolia Avenue Oct. 24.
