Elections set today; polls open at 7 a.m.

MOULTRIE — Residents of Northwest Moultrie and the City of Berlin may go to the polls today and elect its leadership.

Lamonte Alderman, John F. Bridges, Susie Magwood-Thomas and Margaret Mathis are running for the District 1, Post 2 seat on the Moultrie City Council. Incumbent Councilwoman Betty Haggins chose not to run for re-election.

In Berlin, incumbent Mayor Dale Williams is seeking a second term in office. He is being challenged by Jerry Evers, who is currently the police chief of the Damascus Police Department and former police chief of Berlin.

Also in Berlin, incumbent Councilman Lonnie Cannon, Curtis Akridge, Tina Bridwell and Ray Meeks are running to fill two council seats. Reggie Merritt is also running for re-election to his council seat, but he is running as a write-in candidate.

Polls will open at 7 a.m. today and will remain open until 7 p.m.
