Patient accused of threatening doctor
Staff Reports
MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was arrested after he allegedly threatened his doctor Monday afternoon.
Freddie Durden, 45, of 120 Hawthorne Drive, was charged Monday with making terroristic threats and acts.
An officer was called to Colquitt Regional Medical Center on South Main Street at 3:01 p.m. Monday about terroristic threats. The officer spoke with Dr. Michael Thayer, who stated Durden, a patient of his, was drunk and being uncooperative.
Thayer told the officer that, during the treatment process, Durden allegedly pulled out his IVs and threatened to kill him. Two witnesses also stated they heard Durden threaten Thayer. While the officer was waiting on statements from Thayer and the witnesses, Durden allegedly stated “This is what I get for threatening a doctor.”
A nurse came in and tried to get an IV out of Durden, but he allegedly stated it wasn’t hurting him and pulled it out himself. He was then placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail.
