MOULTRIE — Colquitt County 4-H and FFA students exhibited 34 goats and lambs in the 2007 Colquitt County Market Lamb and Goat Show held Thursday at the Colquitt County Livestock exhibition barn.
Elaine Hurst was named grand champion of the goat show competition, while Davis Coleman exhibited the goat division’s reserve champion.
In the lamb division, Kaley Clark had the show’s grand champion. Hurst was named reserve champion.
In goat division showmanship, Davis Coleman was the competition’s junior winner. Elaine Hurst won the senior division of goat showmanship.
Elizabeth Beacham won the junior division in lamb showmanship. The intermediate class was won by Alex Kimbrell. Kaley Clark was the senior division winner.
The show was judged by Steve Morgan of West Point. He is director of 4-H programs in Harris County and has worked with and shown livestock all his life.
In the goat division of the show, three classes exhibited 14 animals. Classes were established by weight.
In Class I, Davis Coleman placed first, Caitlynn Meadows was second and Grant Bell was third.
Class II was won by Elaine Hurst followed by Kylie Branch in second place and Erin Smith in third.
In Class III, Hurst again was the winner. She was followed in the class by Joshua Culpepper in second place and Jacob Smith in third.
Dawson Massey was the winner of Class I of the lamb division. JoDee Clark’s entry placed second and Payne Newsome placed third.
In Class II, JoDee Clark was the winner. She was followed by Elizabeth Beacham in second and Caris Ruis in third place.
The Class III winner was Kaley Clark. She was followed by Hannah Dixon in second place and Patrick Holman in third place.
Hurst came back in Class IV lambs with two entries that placed first and third. The second place winner was Alex Kimbrell.
Colquitt County 4-H and FFA students will next exhibit hogs at the Colquitt County Market Hog Show on Dec. 4 at the livestock barn.
