2 blood drives planned for Thursday
MOULTRIE — Two blood drives are planned for Thursday in Moultrie.
The Southeastern Community Blood Centers will hold a drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. SCBC is the blood bank that supplies blood to CRMC.
The American Red Cross will hold its monthly Community That Cares Drive from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Colquitt E.M.C. Auditorium. the drive is sponsored by the Moultrie Federated Guild.
Troopers work 18 crashes in Oct.
MOULTRIE — State troopers from the Thomasville post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 18 traffic crashes during the month of October in Colquitt County. Sgt. 1st Class R.D. Warren said the crashes resulted in 16 injuries and one death.
The fatal crash was Oct. 8 in Berlin when Guy Fowler, 79, of Moultrie drove off of Southerland Road and struck a cotton wagon in a field.
Warren said troopers from Post 12 also issued 242 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes nine arrests for driving under the influence, 75 citations for speeding, 64 seat belt violations and eight child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 229 warnings.
Clinic extends hours for walk-ins
MOULTRIE — Colquitt Regional Medical Center’s Primary Care Clinic is extending its hours to accommodate walk-in patients. In addition to their regular operating hours, the clinic will see walk-in patients from noon until 2 p.m.
Primary Care Clinic is staffed by five doctors and two physician assistants. The clinic accepts Medicare, Medicaid, PeachCare, WellCare and most third-party insurance.
