MOULTRIE — Wendy’s Restaurants donated several bears to the Colquitt County Assistant District Attorney’s Office Tuesday to give to children who are victims of crime.
Victims Advocate Karen Ambrose said the 100 bears that were donated will be used as part of the office’s outreach to children who are crime victims. The bears are hoped to make things easier on the children when they go to the assistant district attorney’s office and will allow them to associate something good with going there. The bears will be given out to children throughout the year.
Getting the bear donation from Wendy’s was very special, Ambrose said, and it shows a continued support of her work from the community. Just like a family, it takes the entire community to reach out to the children who need support so badly.
“Having the community reach out to the children means a lot to me,” Ambrose said.
Lorrie Jones, manager at Wendy’s, said this is the second year the company has donated bears, and it is a way for the restaurant to continue to give something back to the community, one of founder Dave Thomas’s mottos.
“You can’t be successful without giving something back to the community,” Jones said. “The community is what’s made you successful.”
